nose job reply

Postby dr. lam » Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:42 pm

hi,
thanks for your query. the recovery really is not bad. i rarely see bruising and when i do it is very mild and can be handled by my laser at one week when the splint comes off. that obviously brings me to point two which is the fact that you will have a splint on for the week which obviously cramps your social life that week. if you want to see typical patients of mine after one week, visit my video recoveries and look for "rhinoplasty" either in my media center or under "resources" as recovery videos.

as far as discomfort, there really is very little to none. this procedure simply is not painful. the only time that i have found rhinoplasty painful is if you pack the nose after a procedure. fortunately for you, i do not pack the nose so there is no pain.

finally, as far as swelling, the first week can look a bit distorted but usually not bad. by the second week most of the major swelling is almost all gone meaning that the remaining 10% of people probably won't know but the only thing i can predict about human nature is that it is unpredictable. most people just take a week off from work. remember however it takes 1 to 2 years for all of the little swelling to go away. in other words, the nose will look better and better over time. i hope that helps. if you have more questions, just blog me another question.
best,
sml
