Silikon

Postby lainey » Fri Dec 24, 2010 2:09 am

Hi, I am interested if I am a candidate for Silikon micro technique..
I have had 3 rhinoplasties (first one left my nose a mess) the 2nd one the Doctor placed my own cartilage and mainly rebuilt it for better breathing.. The 3rd he placed a product called Surgimend, however there is still things that aren't quite right such as around the tip and bridge. I have had Juviderm injected and loved the results, but just can't afford the up keep for short term fillers. So my other questions are, can Silikon be placed around a implant (Surgimend)? Do you use Silikon 1000? I read that Silikon in the tip is not as successful as in the bridge, but is it have success around the tip?
Thank you for your time :)

yes, i use silikon 1000 for my silicone injections. if you like juvederm then this offers a permanent solution. however, to do it right it probably takes 2 to 3 x the number of sessions than it does juvederm because you cannot fill all of it at one time since the microdroplets must not adhere to one another. a little at a time spaced at least a month apart. in general it is safe to inject around an implant. there is always a chance of getting an implant infected so the technique should be relatively sterile and clean. i inject all the time around implants. yes, the tip in general does not stretch like the bridge does. it is very hard to get silikon or any injectable product to work well there. i do use it along the rim of the nose to bring down contracted ala (nostrils).
best,

Thank you for you quick reply, very helpful!
I am also wanting to get silikon injected above my chin implant to fill in deep space between my lip and chin..Is this a area that can be injected?
One more question :-) Can silikon be placed on the sides of the nose to give a wider appearance?
Thanks again!

in general, artefill fills that space a bit better than silicone because it lifts the tissues better but i do do silicone too. silikon can be used to widen the nose if it is just a little bit. i would really have to see you to determine your suitability to do all of this. just remember with silikon that it takes a few rounds for optimal results.

It is okay to have both Silikon & Artefill in your face if in different areas?
Does Artefill give more volume in general vs. Silikon even in the nose?
It's hard deciding which one is better to choose with all the controversy on the internet. Obviously I want to do whichever is going to be safer in the long run..
Do you also do Artefill?
Thank you so much again for your knowledgeable answers :-)

generally, i use silicone for noses, acne scars and lips. i use artefill for folds and for fat grafting touch ups. for the nose, silicone is used in such small amounts that to open an entire syringe of artefill for just a little nose fill does not make sense so i use principally silicone. however, if i am using artefill for somewhere else on the face, then i use artefill so someone does not have to pay for both. artefill and silicone both fill the nose almost equally well. artefill is terrible for the lips. silicone is terrible for the folds. between that, they both fill pretty well. and yes i do artefill and yes they can co-exist in the face.
