Infection after mole removal

Postby Juggie247 » Wed Dec 22, 2010 11:58 am

Hi Dr.Lam,

I recently had a mole removed from the area above the upper lip. That was about 3 weeks ago. Excision with stitches. the stitches were removed 2 weeks ago. Everything was fine until about 4 days ago... there has been some protrusion on the wound along with a tingling sensation, some itch and redness.. today i noticed that a pus might be emerging.. there is hair growth on the wound site and i have tough stubbles around the area. Could there be a keloid scar forming on the area? the doctor told me that there would only be a line scar..

sounds like an infection. you should probably speak to your physician immediately to see if he/she can help you manage the situation. in general, keloids do not form on the face but a hypertrophic scar still can. in any case, ask your physician for the next course of action.
