Silicon Injection Removal?

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Silicon Injection Removal?

Postby crispycraters » Mon Dec 13, 2010 7:17 pm

Considering silicon injections which have an upside and downside. The upside is they're permanent, the downside is they're permanent. Basically if I like it then it's great because it'll stay that way but if I don't then it would be bad because it would stay that way; I would love the idea that there is something that could dissolve them or a way to remove them.

IS there any possible way to remove silicon injections that are placed for acne scarring?

no, there isn't. as you said, it has to be done perfectly by someone who knows what he is doing. you got the positive and the negative right about silicone.

Thanks for the response. Last question - if I were to get silicon injections and there were slight "bumps" where the silicon was injected, would dermabrasion get rid of that and make it smooth?

not easily. you should not be seeing bumps. worst case scenario, shaving it down or dermabrasion may help the situation; but the situation should be avoided in the first place.
