Methods of preparing fat...

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Methods of preparing fat...

Postby Girl1331 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:37 pm

Hello,

I was wondering how you prepared your fat. Do you centrifuge? Or are you using the Puregraft system. Or perhaps another method. Which is considered most effective? Your thoughts are appreciated it!

BTW, I enjoyed watching your lectures on YouTube.

I centrifuge the fat. i have worked with doctors who have centrifuged for shorter and longer periods than I do or strained the fat or done something else magical and all their results have held up. There is just way too much voodoo on the processing part.

I do not use other methods because I honestly do not want better "take". I moderated a panel of fat grafters internationally in July and almost every person did not want any better "take". the reason is that the face that they design is based on how that take would be, i.e., if i put 1 cc of fat in i know that in a year when the graft matures what kind of result i will get. anything that would promote better take is a very bad thing for me at least. hope that makes sense.
best,
sml

Makes sense! You want to stick with the method that best gives you predictable results. Thank you for the detailed answer!
