Question on scars

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions addressing linear scars, depressed scars, keloid scars, hypertrophic scars, and other facial reconstructive topics. (Of note, Dr. Lam no longer accepts medical insurance so he rarely manages cancer reconstruction or trauma anymore.)

Question on scars

Postby usp91 » Tue Nov 09, 2010 7:07 am

Hi Dr.Lam,

Its a pleasure and honor to be able to post on this forum. I am a young man from Canada and have some questions - Are you able to recieve new patients anytime soon? And are capable of treating scars to the extent whether it's surgical or non-surgical to have the facial scar literally unnoticable - in general. Maybe hard to determine without seeing in person.. I apologize.

Recently, there has been a pass on the stem cell embryonic ban lifted in the U.S to treat the human problems to organs, cureness, regeneration. etc.. If so, Couldn't you have your scar cut out, and inject the cut out area with stem cells performed by surgeons? Couldn't this completely remove scars? Is it currently available? If not, when will it? I would like to thank-you in advance for taking the time and trying to answer these questions with an imaginable busy scheldule.

Good Regards,
usp91

hi,
1. as far as scheduling, you really have to check with my office 972-312-8188.
2. as far as whether i can do the procedure for you, you should probably send me a photo to samlammd@yahoo.com with some background so that i can see whether or not you are a candidate.
3. as far as making the scar completely unnoticeable that is impossible but i hopefully can make it only noticeable to someone a few inches from your face. that is the principle of scar revision.
4. i do not believe any stem cell will get rid of a scar. i think good scar revision technique is the key at least at this point in time.
best,
sml
