Silicone Micro Droplets Nose Bridge

Postby Riley6908 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 7:44 pm

Hi Dr Lam,
Thank you for providing such a comprehensive website.
I've had a HA filler injected along various sections of my bridge to improve the look of my nose after 2 previous surgical nose operations. My primary in 2005 wiped out my nose completely (V-deformity/open roof/over-rotated tip/washed out front/wide bridge/asian appearance). My secondary in 2009 rebuilt my tip and bridge with grafts.
The filler helps to improve my frontal symmetry, as my bridge graft is narrow & off-center. It also fills out an obvious dip between my bridge graft and supra-tip, plus it helps to blend the graft into my lower radix better. The HA filler makes my nose look a bit bulky, but it's still an overall improvement. It's done wonders for balancing my nose & shadowing. Just under 1ml was used (bridge only, my tip is great). My nasal skin is thicker than average. I've been told it's in good condition for someone who's had 2 surgeries.
Am I a candidate for Silicone Micro in the future? As you know, I face topping up my nose every 6 months for the rest of my life (I'm only 28 and want to start a family soon!!!!). I'm thinking that Silicone Micro will prevent "needle fatigue" in the long run. I don't want my nose to go up & down, up & down each year. There's also a week of downtime from slight overfill, swelling and bruising after the HA filler too, which is not ideal in my face-to-face job.
Is there the option of having the filler dissolved prior to commencing Silicone Micro injections? They don't do Silicone Micro here in Australia. I've been offered Aquamid as a 10 year solution, but I don't like this product.
I would be happy to travel to Dallas for treatment if a candidate.
Thank you :)

hi,
yes, i would probably have it dissolved first then wait 2 to 3 months (just to be safe) to allow any of your collagen that went down to return before starting. silicone is a viable option. unfortunately, it takes 2 to 3 rounds to get the job done. i did a silicone treatment a year ago for an australian who is coming back this year for a second round. i did a first round for a lady who came from australia last week for her lips. just keep in mind it takes 2 to 3 rounds to get the job done. i agree: don't do Aquamid!
best,

Thanks for your reply. It actually doesn't surprise me that other Aussie's have flown in for Silicone Micro with you!
It's something I'll definitely end up doing. Thanks again :)

Hi Dr Lam,
Sorry, I forgot to ask your opinion regarding Silicone Micro droplets and thick nasal skin. In your experience, does thick skin get in the way of creating a refined bridge using the mirco-droplet technique? Can silicone micro produce a similar look to a dorsal fascia wrapped diced ear graft for instance?
Do you find it good for creating slightly more height up near the radix? (This is wear some of the HA filler has been placed in my case, because my graft starts too low in the nose).
Thanks again. I look forward to seeing you in the near future!
Kindest regards :)

the thick skin is not a problem. the silicone words the best in the radix and pretty darn well in the bridge but not too effectively in the tip.

It does take a lot of patience as you have to go for about two rounds
