malar mounds

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

malar mounds

Postby sebriggs » Sat Oct 02, 2010 11:23 am

Hello Doctor,

I am a 34 year old woman, generally perceived by new people I meet to be age 28, so I feel that I am aging well, but I have what I believe is the beginning of malar mounds. I have observed the problem becoming more noticeable over the past 10 years. I am still using makeup to camouflage it, and people say they never notice it, but it is really starting to bother me. What I want to know is, what can I do at this early stage to improve it, or lessen the progression of the problem? It's nowhere near the stage which would require surgery, but I don't want to wait for it to get that bad.

i would have to see your face to give you proper counseling but malar mounds if that is what you have is hard to treat and hard to prevent. the only things that could help would be skin care products, diet, exercise, hydration, avoidance of sun, and maybe Botox (that last one is unclear if you are talking truly about a mound and not just loose skin). sorry that i can't offer you any more insight.
best,
sml
