Fat grafting for breasts

Postby Mysteryagain » Fri Oct 01, 2010 12:03 pm

Hello :)

Dr, why is that fat grafting for breasts is not done?

Is it dangerous or not doable? or is it only because it can only add little volume?

I am thinking of situations where one needs to correct a slight asimmmetry or fill in a bit the shape of a narrow based breast: say, good volume of breasts, no interest in cup increase but if there is any, half a cup or one cup... the aim being to, say, have a tiny bit more fatty tissue at the top of the breasts versus all concentrated on the lower half...

Does the fat get calcified and create problems for mammograms?
Can it be injected around the muscle and not directly in the mammary tissue?

I will give you an example of the type of situation I speak of: notice the picture is not about fat grafting, but illustrated how someone might want to fill in an area slightly, NOT create major changes at all in breast size. Only correct a problem with the shape or asimmetry.

Is it doable? is it safe?
Why is it not done or not common?
Again, talking of this for correction of shape or asimmetries, NOT for cup increase or a super modest cup increase.

I know some doctors in Europe use threads that pull the breasts up, to correct some asimmetries but I assume that is not safe... that they might hurt, or interfere with mammograms?

Anyway, here is the pic of the type of change I speak of (change in the shape of the slope, not really about size) or something along these lines...

PS: nevermind in the pic the outlined line in white that says Brava. I talk of the drawing of the breasts only, and how there is a change in the "filling" of the slope. It is that what I talk about.
I had a not major accident not long ago but whether due to sudden traumatic fat loss or something, the slope of one breast became more marked, creating the ILLUSION of sagginess only because there is so little fat in the upper part, and less than in the other breast. The nipple position and fullness, otherwise, remain the same (same cup size in bras, same height of nipples, being not saggy... but the illusion of sagginess due to the uneveness between breasts AND one breast having little upper fat and creating a slope like the one more to the left, versus the normal situation in the other breast, which would be the breast drawed at the right. The right breast suffered anyway a bit of fat loss at the top too.
Should I forget about it and get used to this outcome of the accident? or can I hope for fat transfer to help?
I am not willing, nor financially can afford, but above all, won't go under anesthesia for such a matter, as to think of implants. No. The deformity is too slight for that, anyway. But if it could be fixed with fat, it would restore how my breasts were without trauma or major problems. IF doable. Let me know what you think.

PS: never had any problem related to breast health. So far, and God willing, I am healthy there. Just got that change from the accident.

Stem cells could not create "bad" cells in the area??? IF there were any in the fat extracted?

Dr, why is that fat grafting for breasts is not done?
IT IS DONE FOR THE BREAST SINCE THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF PLASTIC SURGEONS RETRACTED THEIR LONG-HELD STATEMENT A YEAR AGO THAT CALCIFICATIONS WOULD INTERFERE WITH MAMMOGRAMS. BUT REMEMBER I DO NOT DO BODY WORK SO I REALLY CANNOT ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS.
Is it dangerous or not doable? or is it only because it can only add little volume? SEE ABOVE. AND YOU NEED A TON OF VOLUME TO SEE ANY CHANGES. FOR THIN INDIVIDUALS YOU PROBABLY WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH FAT FOR VOLUME. FOR A LITTLE VOLUME PERHAPS BUT AGAIN THIS IS NOT MY SPECIALTY.
sorry, again i do not do this procedure and do not like to answer questions outside of my specialty and that are based on conjecture.
best,

Makes total sense.
I would need so little... yet I am very thin and maybe even the little to "even" things would not be obtained. Just not enough fat even for a small correction, I suspect.
And anyway I would be reluctant to do it with someone other than you, so I will just forget about it :)
Thankssssssssss
