Did my Surgeon over correct

Postby godzilla123 » Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:43 am

I had Otoplasy done last Friday on just my left ear. My left ear os is 1/4" closer to my head now then my right one. Did my surgeon over correct or will the ear spring back out 1/4"?

without seeing your ears before or really knowing you it is not fair for me to state what you are seeing now. you must speak with your physician regarding your condition. i make it a point not to give an answer to another surgeon's work so shortly after a procedure. sorry that is for your good and for mine too.
best,

My left ear is 1/4" closer to my head than my right ear. My left ear just had otoplasty. Is it common for the left ear to be 1/4" closer to the head than the right ear after surgery? I know there is some rebound involved but 1/4"? Thanks

Dr. Lam,
If you do surgery on a 40 year old male on just one ear, how much further do you pin it back to compensate for rebound? Does 1/4" further back than the other ear sound reasonable?

personally, i do not overcorrect. i am always worried that it will not relax. if the ear cartilage is very very very firm with a great potential for relaxation, i may overcorrect. that may happen once a year. most ears are not like that. that is how i do it but obviously i don't know your situation.
