Tip Plasty/ Bridge Slimming?

Postby justcurious » Mon Jul 05, 2010 5:28 pm

Hi Dr Lam,

I'm just getting in touch because I'm considering having rhinoplasty (again) but I have no idea if what I want is even possible. I had rhinoplasty in 2008 to put a dip in my nose, nothing else. My nose had always been dead straight and and I wanted a little 'ski jump' dip so that from side on it looked cuter. My surgeon did what I asked and the result was great! Only... I'm not happy with the way it looks from front on. The surgeon did not change the front-on appearance, but that's okay because I didn't want him to anyway. But I have decided I don't like it, I think it's too bulbous or thick.. I can't quite put my finger on it. Could you possibly have a look at these photos of myself and then the photos of Megan Fox and tell me if I could achieve close to that exact nose with more surgery? Is it possible? Or are our structures just too different? Thanks Dr Lam.

hi,
thanks for the question. obviously, photos only give me so much information. what i am lacking is a one-to-one in-person consultation. most oftentimes going back in and thinning a tip that in my opinion does not look too bulbous carries with it some risk for tip changes that might not be ideal, slight tip droop or slight tip elevation. in other words, i think rhinoplasty is a very good art but it is not a 100% perfect science. when i truly have a bulbous tip or a hump, then i recommend a rhinoplasty. that is what i am doing tomorrow morning. however, when it is a very fine shade of improvement i always worry that i do not deliver on what you pay for or make slight changes in the end that are not what you and i exactly predicted based on skin healing changes. those are my general thoughts.
best,
sml
