Facial fat loss and exercise

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Facial fat loss and exercise

Postby Sillyme702 » Sun Jun 06, 2010 5:27 pm

Hello Dr. Lam,

I am going on 7 months now since having fat graphting performed. In general, I can see a gradual change since I lost most of the fullness from about the 3rd month. My concern is, whenever I start to work out I automatically loose about 4-5 pounds. When I loose those few pounds I see a big difference in my face as far as fullness is concerned. I almost return to the 'gaunt' look I so disliked prior to treatment. I tend to put weight on all over, this includes my face, whenever I gain a few pounds (never more than 5 pounds flucuations). I am to the point where I have not been working out due to fat loss in face. Even my husband notices the difference. My question is, is this something that I just have to deal with? Does that make sense?
Thank you,
KL

hi,
sorry that i did not respond in 24 hours. i try every day but sometimes there may be a 24 hour delay. hmmm, my mom has lost 10 pounds after her fat transfer and she is now 2 months shy of 3 years without any noticeable negative outcome. generally, the fat in the face taken from the hips or stomach is very resistant to weight loss for a few pounds but is not as good with significant weight gain. if you are my patient and live in dallas, let me see your progress. that will help me see what is going on too. if not, send me a photo via PM.
best,
sml
