Method used in fat transfers

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Method used in fat transfers

Postby littlebit » Wed May 26, 2010 11:11 am

Hi there!

I so wish that I lived in Dallas so that I can come to see you but I live in Georgia and can't afford to travel. You and your work are amazing! I am looking for a plastic surgeon in my area to do fat transfers to seven shallow indentions (about the size of the tip of your pinky) from acne and want it to last. When researching for a surgeon, what is the most important question that I ask them about their methods? I've read that some spin the fat down in a centrifuge and other things.

Also, should I ask about stem cells? And what about freezing the fat for later? Is that worth it? Lastly, I was also told that the area around the belly is best for facial fat transfers.

Thanks for all of your input. Much success!

you probably won't believe it but i am totally opposed to fat grafting for acne scarring. it does not work reliably and can even be dangerous. it does not work because it is too soft to fill the scars and also if done well it is a live graft that persists and can change with weight, i.e., become lumpy. i prefer silicone micro injections which can be done with a flight in and out the same day as an office procedure. it works a ton better.
best,
