silicone and tca cross

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Hi Dr. Lam,
I am super excited about my appointment with you, it is scheduled for June 30, 2010. I live in Kentucky, but we will be moving to Oklahoma in June so that is when I can get in to see you. My question for you is how do you determine what scars are treated with silicone and which to do the tca cross?

hi,
i look forward to meet you too. silicone is for deeper to somewhat shallower holes and tca is for just skin etches. there is a crossover where i sometimes try to do silicone if i can first to limit recovery and get faster results. i will have to see you in person to guide you.
