BOTOX for nostril flare?

Postby steelo » Sat May 08, 2010 6:13 am

I get BOTOX in my forehead, between my eyes and for crows feet... and am very happy with the results.

Recently I read that BOTOX can be used to treat nostril flare, with a unit being put into each side of the nostrils in the region of the levator alae nasi. Is this something you have experience with? What do you think about it? What about complications?

Short of surgery, are there any (temporary) methods to reduce nostril flare? Such as Restylane? I've seen pictures of Restylane used to correct other problems with the nose.

to me that treatment is a waste in most cases because it does not totally affect the change and it does not last that long. however, i do have 3 patients i regularly inject their levator alaeque nasi muscle in order to soften a paralyzed side of the face where there is synkinesis (abnormal muscle jerking). injecting the LAN for cosmetic reasons include dropping a gummy smile, decreasing the nasolabial groove (smile line) and possibly decreasing some nasal flare. all reasons that i would not necessarily do it for but you can try and see if it is worth the money and duration.
best,
