Dr Lam : I'm a 30 year old woman, who is 2 weeks out of a fat transfer proceudre to the upper face/cheek area. I have always had a flat face, and the graft was intended to boost my cheeks/generally correct flatness.
The swelling has largely/wholly gone, but it doesn't seem to me as if much of the fat has stayed. My doc saw me a few days ago. He said that he was pleased with some bits but also that he will do a top-up in a few months' time to give me slightly rounder cheeks. I should add that he was very conservative the first time around since that is his preferred approach (- and mine!) I also trust him a lot since he is a cautious man with lots of experience in fat transfer.
Can you just advise me whether I might still get more volume once the fat "takes"? Once it gets its own blood supply, can it then plump up some more?
I'd like to think there might still be a chance to get a more defined look. At the moment, any improvement is very, very subtle and it feels like a bit of a waste of money. My biggest fear is that i lose yet more volume as any residual swelling goes down.
Thanks very much.
