Silicone Microdroplet problem...please help

Postby googenheinz » Mon Apr 26, 2010 3:33 am

Hello Dr. Lam,

i have an appointment to see you on May 18th, but i am hoping you can help me resolve some issues prior to seeing you. I live in los angeles, ca so initially i tried to seek help locally from a dr that was "supposedly" experienced with using silicone microdroplets. i was really low on funds so i chose the route of a local dr in order to avoid having to fly out to dallas. Also you were really backed up for consultation/treatment and this local dr was able to get me in sooner. When i arrived there....he sold me on the fact that he can help me using microdroplets and that he was well experienced using this product. Basically he gained my trust and i let my guard down so i allowed him to do the silicone micro procedure on me. however, rather than the conventional approach of filling in each depressed scar he suggested injecting right below the cheekbone with numerous small injections to create a stretching effect so the skin looks smoother. Have you heard of this technique before? along with injecting that area he also injected below my eye where there is a crease due to lack of sleep. Its been over a 7 weeks now and I am unhappy with the approach this dr took with face. It seems as though some scars where he injected which were no so obvious before are a lot more apparent now. Could this be due to the fact that he injected silicone into areas that are not damaged along areas that were scarred? It seems as though the spots with good skin produced more collagen than the actual acne scar now making the acne scar deeper looking. Does this sound correct to you? Also, I feel really depressed because I feel as though this procedure has caused my face to looker fatter and it feels as though it changed the structure of my face. I have been really depressed because of my acne scars and now I have to worry about my face looking unnecessarily fatter. I really regret going to this dr. It seems as though he didn’t care about helping me out, but instead just wanted my money. After expressing my dissatisfaction with his work he said he can inject cortisone to reduce to collagen production. Do you think this would be a wise thing to do? I just want my face to go back to normal. I have an appointment with you on May 18 so I was wondering if I should hold-off on this cortisone treatment from this other dr until I see you. I dont want to go back to this dr if i can help it. Ive lost all trust in ths dr. Could this be something you can help me with? Is there such a thing as taking MRI scans to detect where the silicone was injected in order to precisely inject the cortisone? Please let me know what you think. Thank you so much

Regards,
James N.

hi,
so sorry to hear what happened. unfortunately, silicone is really irreversible. i wish i could give you hope but it is really hard to fix. my opinion of steroid injections is that they are dangerous and won't help the situation. they can just lead to more holes in my opinion. i have to see you to figure out what i can do. i cannot promise you i can fix it. i think i need to see it. let's just see what i have to work with before i comment further. look forward to try my best to help you. don't give up hope. let me see it.
best,
sml
