gortex for bridge

Postby pory » Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:56 am

Hi Dr. Lam,
1 year ago ,I had a nose job with gortex as the implant. The height was nice ,but as the implant somehow turn out to be crooked after recovery,i would like to have a revision.
Front view is supposed to be straight like | , but mine turn out like ) . lol
Maybe because i had myhands on it all the time during recovery.
What i know is that u place the implant only on the bridge. I have ask my previous surgeon about having the implant only on the bridge, but he said that is will cause the tip to droop and is not desirable. My implant is about 6mm.
Do you think u can augment my bridge 6mm without implant in the tip?
That would be best as having the implant in my nose tip restricts some movement of the nose.
Please advice me on this matter. Thank you very much.

hi,
thanks for the question. 6 mm in my opinion is quite high. sometimes you can see the implant at that height and it may look unnatural. if you want me to do your work, the most i would possibly consider is about half that height. i would build your tip with cartilage. sometimes a high bridge without a tip will not match. all of these considerations have to be put together to make an effective decision. if we meet on an aesthetic goal, then we can consider moving forward. if not, then a more aggressive surgeon may be more to your liking, to which i take no offense. :)
best,

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I actually like my current bridge height. but the con is that i cant do things like pinching my nose or doing a piggy nose bcoz of the implant . Not a big problem but it would best if the tip feels soft like pre-surgery. Will the tip feel soft if cartilage was used instead? My previous surgeon said that even though septal and ear cartilage is softer than the implant, the tip wil never feel quite like the way it was before any surgery.
May i know what cartilage are u using for the tip? My septal and left ear cartilage has already been used. I only have right ear left.

having all that cartilage removed will make things harder for me especially since the septum is the best cartilage to be used. to be honest, what you are telling me unless i saw you basing it on what you want i would agree with your surgeon. you will not get a good outcome. i don't think i will provide that much more softness to your tip by using your right ear cartilage.
