Hi Dr. Lam,

I had an wedge-type ear lobe reduction about 15 years ago. Almost immediately the left ear began to scar badly and was also uneven with the right ear. The surgeon performed a revision to match the left to the right, but again it scared badly.

I also wanted to ask you if you think I would possibly benefit from otoplasty "pinning back" surgery. I believe that my ears protrude too far from my head, not folding back in a normal fashion.

here are my thoughts:
1. the left earlobe scar is visible. i would not further reduce the ear lobe even though the lobe on the left is bigger. i am afraid that it will be hard to get the right shape to match the one on the right. the lobe on the left actually looks about right in terms of shape. if you wanted a scar revision, then i can work on a scar revision but i can promise you that the scar will be 100 times better.
2. i would not do a ear pinning. things will look worse. your ears are fine in terms of projection off the scalp.
