Non-surgical Nose job before Tip-plasty

Postby Medicone » Tue Jan 05, 2010 2:21 am

Hi Dr., I had a question.

If we really want to get a non-surgical nose job first, I heard getting a hyaluronic acid based filler such as Restylane or Juvaderm is recommended. My question is if these are inserted in the nose, and after a year has passed they vanish and the nose is then returned to its original shape, and then 2 months or so later you decide you want to get a Tip-plasty (tip nose surgery only), would this be absolutely fine? In other words, would the injections in any way complicate the proceedings of a future nose tip surgery? Thank you in advance

hi,
in general, i prefer not to do any injectables in someone contemplating rhinoplasty. does it affect things? probably not. however, it is always cleaner to have nothing injected or done before a rhinoplasty. i have done rhinoplasties after injectables without a problem. restylane would be your safest bet. also, it adds another level of complexity which is you probably should have the product dissolved even after a year if you are planning to have like gore-tex placed because the restylane can still linger for a few years in some people and you never know if it is all gone. for all of these reasons, if you are a serious rhinoplasty candidate i would consider going toward rhinoplasty without previous injections.
best,
