Sculptra -- "soft" or "hard"?

Postby miaou5 » Sat Nov 07, 2009 8:51 am

Dear Dr. Lam,

Would Sculptra be considered a "soft" or "hard" filler in your book? From your wonderful video, I'm assuming that fat is the softest, followed by silicone, then Juvey, Juvey Ultra Plus, then collagen (I'm tacking this on because I've heard that this can look hard). Where would Sculptra fit into the list? Thank you Dr. Lam, and have a great weekend :)

Edited to add: Is it possible to fat graft over sculptra, or is this not recommended? Thanks again!!

1. sculptra is not a filler. it is a volumizer working on your own soft tissue growth so i guess you could call it soft. i don't use it anymore so it is so hard for me to comment on something that i have only used a handful of times.
2. i do not like putting fat over sculptra because it is another mixed variable of both product and resorption. fat placed without previous fillers of any kind is best. however, if you have it, i can still do it. i believe safely. i would then just have a big question mark on when to do it. one year after? wait 2 years? 5 years? very hard to say because sculptra sort of lingers around a bit.
best,
sml
