enlarged pores after procedure

Postby mikemills » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:51 am

dr. lam,

i heard some people say they deveopled permantent enlarged pores after deep rejuenvanting procedures that reach dermis , i guess woudl be called partial thickness wounds , like dermbrassion, laser resurfacing or med-deep chemical peels.

is this possilbe and what causes it since it ?
if that occurs would 12 months later the pores close off some nautrally from wound healing?

lastly, woudl any laser 12 months later help stiumlate collagen to compress pores so looks better

thank you

pores are hard to manage any way you cut it, so to speak. in general, very few things enlarge or shrink pores. i would say that dermabrasion is about the only thing that i could say could do that if it is done deeply and widely. i tend to do dermabrasion only around the mouth deeply. everywhere else less deeply so i have yet to encounter that problem or at least have a patient complain of it. i use plasma skin resurfacing, if anything i tend to see some pore reduction (but can't make that promise) after about 9 months or so. hope that is clear.
best,
sml
