IPL Laser

Postby Nazcanlines » Thu Oct 29, 2009 10:19 am

Hi Dr. Lam

I had one session of IPL under my eyes specifically to target lots of little blood vessels that are visible on the surface. It seemed like it helped quite signficantly for about a week and now i see lots of blood vessels again. Was it realistic to assume they would disappear after one session? My doctor said it was possible i would need more than one, is this common? And how good is IPl really for blood vessels, can it really remove them?

Thank you!

i typed out this very long answer but my computer lost it! ouch!

ok, here goes:
1. i truly believe the type of IPL really matters and how administers it. IMHO, the KTP laser is the best. it is a laser focused entirely on the red color that literally zaps down the blood vessels. although it is possible, i have never seen it come back after a week.
2. i believe that all skin conditions come back over time as i always say, "your skin is a process". whatever caused the problem in the first place will cause it to come back. it may take months or years. if people say why bother then i ask them why bother brush your teeth, eat healthy, or sleep right. a lot of things in life require maintenance. good laser treatments are no exception.
best,
sml
