Subcision before TCA Cross

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Subcision before TCA Cross

Postby Brenman » Mon Oct 26, 2009 6:57 pm

Hi Dr. Lam,

Is there an advantage to doing a subcision prior to having TCA Cross done (each time)? Will a combo treatment yield a better result?

Thanks for your time.

I'm hopeful!

no, there is not only not an advantage but there is a distinct disadvantage, which is risk. the area may not heal well. it is too much for no reason. thanks for the question.
best,

Thanks for your reply.

Would it be possible to "test" a few scars with TCA prior to treating all of them? (to see how they respond).

sure, the only problem is that it takes multiple rounds to see a result and i can't keep testing them. i would say it makes more sense to let me gauge for you whether you are a good, average, or poor candidate when i see you.
