fillers vs face lift vs laser treatment

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

fillers vs face lift vs laser treatment

Postby desky888 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 1:41 am

Hi Dr lam,
I've got something which i can't understand is that in order to look our best and younger for our nose and below part which is the jaw and chin area.

Do you recommend : fillers (for filling buccal and jowl area) , or do a lower face lift ( not to tighten but to remove excess skin so it will be firmer), or simply go for the latest ulthera treatment to tighten that area?

assuming there are some loosening of skin around the lower face at age 45

I hope you can help me answer my queries with your expertise.

Thanks Dr lam!

the best thing for aging at 45 is to do fat transfer in 98% of people unless they are just overweight and won't necessarily look great with an FT. the reason is that fat transferred to the anterior chin and prejowl (in front of the jowl) makes things look great there. however, fat is too soft to change the fold or folds and too soft to knock out the jowl. fillers would be better. a very large jowl however needs a facelift. if you are only 45, most likely an FT is the way to go. of course, i need to see you to make that determination.
best,
