tca cross pores

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

tca cross pores

Postby mikemills » Mon Aug 24, 2009 4:10 pm

hi dr. Lam,

thank you for the opportunity ot ask a question. i am interested in driving up from houston to see you for tca cross. i have a couple of quick questions .
for the 1mm diameter deep hole on cheek. does the cross temporairly make the hole diatmeter wider or deeper after application for first few days or weeks?

second, mean you say over correct do you mean, causing more collagen destruction versus production, or too much collagenproduction rasing it above skin level?

finally, can the cross make the diameter less wide or only helps with depth of pin hole?

regards

FIRST, I HAVE TO SEE YOUR CASE TO KNOW FOR CERTAIN. IT SHOULD NOT MAKE IT WIDER OR DEEPER JUST A BIT FROSTED. USUALLY YOU ACTUALLY SEE ALMOST NO CHANGE IN MOST CASES.

second, mean you say over correct do you mean, causing more collagen destruction versus production, or too much collagenproduction rasing it above skin level?
COLLAGEN DESTRUCTION WHERE THE HOLE CAN GET BIGGER AND DEEPER. THAT IS WHY VERY CAREFUL APPLICATION IS KEY.

finally, can the cross make the diameter less wide or only helps with depth of pin hole?
BOTH DEPTH AND DIAMETER SHOULD BE HELPED.
best,

thank you dr. lam, jusy called for appt. i look foward to meeting you. one last question, i know everybody is differnet . on average in general to get basic idea, ofr the 1mm diatmeter, but deeper than 1mm scar pores on cheek, do you do 2-3 or 4 monthly treatments before doing a possible session every 3 moths ot avid over correction?

let me really clarify: i do not treat enlarged pores. i treat scars. i hope that is clear. i cannot accurately or safely treat a thousand pores. it would only be acne related scarring. if you just want enlarged pores treated, you should cancel the appt. because i can't deliver safely on that. if they are just 1 mm scars i usually space out intervals at 3 months to see if you need a second round. is that clear?

ok, then you sound like a good candidate. if they are deep, i recommend once a month. if they are shallow, i recommend every 3 months. however, what you think is deep may be shallow to me, and what you think is shallow may be deep to me. it matters what i see to safely guide you. look forward to meet you.

dr. lam,
i posted a pic , in my mid cheek are you can make out a long hortiznal line of pores. if they are just enlarged pores, can the cross be used just on those to clos the width and break up line?

2. have you done on enlarged pores and does it help close opening or will it turn them into scars and make worse?

that sounds interesting but i would say let's put that desire into the land of fantasy so that i do not create any false expectations. i think most likely what you are asking is not going to happen to any level of satisfaction. of course, we can address that desire more specifically when i see you.
