Fraxel re:pair/ Active/Deep Fx Laser

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on managing, treating, and correcting acne scarring. (Of note, Dr. Lam is focused principally on acne scarring rather than on managing the ongoing condition of acne, which a dermatologist would be better equipped to address.)

Dr. Lam,

Have you considered adding any of these lasers to your practice?

Pretty impressive before/afters on realself.com

Thanks.. That being said, based on your experience, is TCS CROSS still your preferred go-to method for treating most acne scarring as opposed to general laser use?

Also, is TCA CROSS generally effective for fine lines, skin texture, size of pores, etc?

yes, it is for these tiny pick marks. i find it is much better than laser. but NOTHING IS PERFECT. those scars are very hard to manage. as far as the list you gave me for everything else, i don't think it will work well for them.

Dr. Lam,
Thanks for the reply. Just out of curiosity, I believe you use the plasma laser and sometimes treat patients during the fat transfer procedure, correct?
Can other lasers (ie fraxel repair, deep fx, etc) also be performed on skin after a fat transfer-meaning several months after or does it compromise your results?

i use plasma at the same time. you are correct. i think fraxel repair a few months out should be fine.

Vank565, I have had a few different facial CO2 laser resurfacings (not from Dr. Lam) to treat depressed acne scars, and I didn't see major improvement. In fact, after all was said and done and the swelling went down, I'm not sure I saw any improvement at all. *Perhaps* softening of the scars' edges, but very subtle, if anything. Oh, and I had a terrible acne flare up immediately after the last resurfacing procedure. I hope others have more luck with lasers than I had. If you want to private message me, I'd be happy to share my experience with you.

thanks. i have seen a ton of disappointed patients following fractionated laser for acne scarring. i think it is not that reliable a method for acne scarring.
