lopsided smile

Postby sarahbarah » Tue Aug 04, 2009 10:55 pm

i recently had botox to the jaw and noticed that it has been harder to smile than usual, and one side does not rise as high as it used to. could this be due to botox? and will it take 5-6 to go back to normal, or is there some intervention that can be done?

as an Update, I also realized that the dimples on both sides of my smile are gone. this distresses me a lot. I've heard that masseter paralysis lasts a long time. does the same go for smile muscles and the dimple muscles?

Oh, and just to clarify, I am not a patient of yours. I actually tried booking an appt with you but you seem to be booked for many months.

good news with botox is that all things will revert to normal. however, yes, the masseter does take a long time to revert in many cases. if you trust me in the future, i should be able to get a nice result for you that is very safe. i measure and recheck my measurement 20 times before injecting, and i use calipers. look forward to taking care of you in the future when things improve.
best,

so the dimple muscles will also take a long term to revert like masseter muscles?

i have never seen that problem. however, botox done one time should be temporary.

well my concern is that because of the large dosage, the effects may be permanent. Is there anything to offset this paralysis?
