Plasma skin treatment

Postby rick3568 » Fri Dec 28, 2007 7:22 pm

Hi Dr
I noticed the posts earlier on Skin tightening procedures and how a CO2 was no different from a lighter treatment in terms of collagen remodeling. I wondered, have you seen any significant skin tightening and/or collagen remodeling with the Plasma treatments? Is most of the benefit from plasma treatments come from the deep tissue heat or from the resurfacing component of the treatment (eg skin peel). Thank you.

Again, for clarification, my point about no differeence between the deeper co2 and lighter photofacial type laser is not to believe all the marketing hype on "skin tightening" and basic science even evaluating tissue histology.

As far as plasma skin resurfacing, I think we need to avoid the words "skin tightening" and "collagen remodeling." What I have seen with the plasma treatment is wonderful improvement in skin texture, better than any other device I have used. It does take many months to get there however. In terms of wrinkle reduction is good but not great, especially around the mouth for deeper lines.

If you have a lot of brown, splotchy, crepey skin, then most of your result comes from the skin peel result. If you have rougher texture, then the plasma heating provides the greater benefit. If you have both, then you will get more equal benefit from both advantages.
