Forehead Contouring And Hair Transplant

Postby ChrisSuperstar » Sun Jun 28, 2009 5:38 pm

Dr. Lam,

A few years ago I had to have my frontal sinus obliterated after a previous forehead contouring procedure went wrong. The surgery corrected the sinus problem, but the contour of my forehead is rather uneven and there is what appears to be a "dent" above my right eyebrow. Also, I now have a wide, bald scar (from the hairline brow lift) running from ear to ear that has defied two attempts at scar revision. I am hoping hair transplant can cover this scarring. As for the contour irregularity, what can be possibly done? They put hydroxyapatite cement in there before, but I don't want to have to open up that huge, ear to ear incision yet again and was wondering if any kind of injectible filler could be used. I do live in Dallas so you are local to me, but I wanted to get an idea of what I might be able to expect.

Thanks!

hi,
glad you live in dallas:
1. for the scarred area, most like an HT will help you. there may be less take in a scar but if i can get the area to at least grow some hairs and visually break up the scar that will already help a lot. i can do a prick test to see if there is any blood flow. if so, then you would most likely be a good candidate (no guarantees). most likely the scar revision failed because wounds in the help tend to stretch back over time in many cases.
2. for the divot, i would have to see it. fat transfer is not an option because fat is too variable: it can fade in a small area or become a lump when the blood supply takes. either silicone micro droplets if the area is small or some other filler like perlane.
best,
sml

Thanks! The "divot" is more of a depression that shows in shadow. It's not a huge hole or anything. I will go ahead and try to schedule a consult. I know I can't make the scar completely better but if I can just cover it up some I will be happy.
