This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)
Dr. Lam, Are there any instances where an undereye fat transposition procedure would be a better alternative to simply adding fat to correct the undereye bags, possibly thin skin in that area, and considering fat would be used in conjunction to fill in and around the transposition.
i don't see a reason for fat transposition as i believe that thin skin is not a reason for me not to do fat transfer. i do not think fat transposition is a bad thing, i just do not use it because i believe fat grafting can address the multitude of hollowness that fat transposition typically cannot: fat transposition addresses only the tear trough IF there is enough fat to be transposed. fat transfer addresses the tear trough (with unlimited supply of fat as needed for example if you need a touchup which is impossible with fat transposition), the entire lower eyelid hollow, nasojugal groove (area lower than the tear trough) anterior cheek, outer cheek, upper eyelid/brow, temple, buccal hollow, etc. you get the point). most people do not think they need all this until i show them a little in many places creates the most balanced rejuvenation possible. best, sml
