When I pull my skin taut, virtually all my acne scars disappear. Could some kind of face lift or skin tightening procedure improve the appearance of acne scars, at least the more superficial ones?

I understand a facelift won't help acne scars, but would it possibly move a acne scar I have on my cheek closer to my hairline? I have a scar on my cheek that even if it were 1/2 inch closer to my hairline I would be MUCH happier!
possibly, but i would not do an entire facelift just to move an acne scar. that is a bit insane. if you need a facelift then maybe try but don't do a facelift to move acne scarring. it will probably fail.

OK this may sound even more insane....if I'm not ready for a facelift....could tissue expansion be used to create some excess skin before trying to reloate a scar? Hey just thinking outside the box!
sure, anything is possible but that seems a bit extreme. never tried it. maybe you can convince a surgeon to do that but that would not be me.

I just want to comment. This is not anything bad againt you doctor Lam as I think you are one of the few out there who are tyring to help acne scar patients. I understand what this poster is saying. When most people with rolling acne scars pull the skin just a slight bit it can make a 100% improvement. It is sad that the dermatology / plastic surgery community has not come up with something to help. It is a torturous thing to have to live with and there are just not enough solutions. It really is the worst condition out there. Why, when you pull the skin a very bit taut, does it make a difference and why can't someone come up with something to help to make that look permanent. When you do a facelift isn't that pulling the skin. Surgeons need to figure this out and do studies and think out of the box. People need help.
Whoever can figure out a way around the 2 finger rule will become trillionaire. Figure it out doc - please. How about taking out the bit of skin to pull the scars for the 2 finger look and then some kind of botox to prevent the stretchback. There has to be a way.
haha. yes, would love to get around that rule but unfortunately right now it is a scam to sell you a facelift to fix scars or other skin issues. it just won't work.
