How long does Botox Jaw Reduction lasts?

Postby reasonnotrules » Sun May 31, 2009 8:54 am

Hi Dr. Lam,

I had Botox Jaw Reduction back in June 2008. I don't know what exact dosage I got, but I was given two options:

1. Get the regular amount, which should last for 6 months, and come back for a 2nd injection after a few months
2. Get a large dose, which should last for a year.

I opted for #2, the large dose, and was told the results should last 9 months to a year. It cost me $1100.

Unfortunately, I ended up unsatisfied with the results because they were too DRASTIC. My face became extremely narrow and thin, to the point where my cheeks are now hollow. I actually prefer my face before the injections. It was round and wide, but I looked healthy.

I was wondering how long does it typically take for these injections to wear off. I'm tired of looking gaunt and would like my old full face back.

I've heard some doctors say that the results are permanent??? Please let me know what your experience with Botox Jaw Reduction has been.

Thanks!!

hmmm, that is a hard one. i would say that it is really hard to say. i personally do not believe it is permanent but the koreans argue that it is. i truly think you should be fine over time. don't rush to correct it. give it time. how much more? hard to say. wait another year and see how things progress. if you can't wait, use a temporary filler like restylane that can be dissolved if you start bulging back. do NOT do any permanent fillers like fat this early on.
best,
sml
