Hi Dr. Lam,

In many of your posts, I've read that laser can help take the redness out of a surgical scar. I had some laser sessions performed on a fresh surgical scar that was a couple months old. While the redness did not abate noticeably, the scar is now surrounded by brown discoloration that does not seem to fade. It has been well over 6 months after the last laser session, but the brown color remains.

What went wrong? Or is this a typical permanent aftermath of laser?

sounds as if you have hyperpigmentation. i assume also that you are darker than fair skinned. using medical-grade bleaching product like triluma will probably help if that is your problem.
