Artecoll PMMA Lumps

Postby wwills » Sun May 03, 2009 4:26 pm

Hi Dr Lam,
I posted some questions to you last year about treating lumps under my eyes as a result of a PMMA product called Precise. I have been trying to deal with this locally (Austin, TX) for over a year now and although they are quite a bit better from steroid injections, etc the lumps prevail. I think I have exhausted my local options and would like to know if you would still consider treating me with 5FU and any other procedure or product you have available for this treatment. I have no issue with follow-up visits, I would just need to know roughly how many treatments would be required.
Please let me know and I will make an appointment.
Thanks for your time,
Wendy

i think your situation is a very difficult one. i don't know if 5-FU will do anything because i am not trying to reduce scar but a permanent filler, which it won't do. you can make an appt. to see me, but i don't think i will have a great solution other than probably cutting it out, which will lead to a visible line and may still not fix the issue. sorry, just being honest. i hope i can help if you cannot find additional help with your situation.
best,

Hi Dr Lam,
Thank you for your quick response. I'm assuming that the visible part of the lump is mostly scar tissue since steroid injections help to reduce them in size. My goal is to try and reduce them even more with less risk to the surrounding tissue.
Does this make sense?
Thanks,
Wendy

Hi again,
I also wonder if after 5FU whatever part of the lump that remains can be camouflaged with fat or another safe type of filler.

i would have to see you in person at some point to determine that. it is hard to answer these questions without a personal consultation.
