Botox on only one side of jaw?

Postby elg2009 » Mon Apr 27, 2009 4:52 pm

Dr. Lam:

I have an uneven jaw that sticks out on one side. I will have to have it corrected eventually, but I am just not ready yet to wear braces for several years and go through this kind of surgery.

My jaw makes my face look asymmetrical and people will regularly ask me if I had my wisdom teeth taken out or if I had an injury.

When I bite on something my chewing muscle becomes very hard and I can tell it is enlarged.

Is there a way to inject Botox on the side that sticks out? I know it probably won't be completely even with the other side, but I am hoping that it could make my face appear at least a little more symmetrical.

Thank you so much for your time.

trying to chase symmetry is so hard for many reasons:
1. it is not possible to achieve symmetry.
2. how many units of Botox do i need to create how much reduction? who knows? nobody. i could do both sides with a little more on one side or just try putting a smaller dose on the left but it is very hard to have any prediction on the result.
best,
