The Reverse of an Asian nose job- recovery

Postby asianbeauty » Mon Apr 20, 2009 12:47 am

Hi Dr Lam,
Generally to put in a silicone implant to an asian nose, it takes about 1 years for the nose to fully heal and shape of nose to reveal. correct?

How about to take out the implant, how long do i have to wait to see the shape of a nose without the implant?
thanks

always hard to say but the recovery is a fraction in general and the swelling is considerably less and faster. although slight changes can occur up to a year or beyond that, most swelling etc. should be relatively short lived like within days to weeks.

Hello Dr Lam,
Do you use computer before / after imaging to show patient what patient will look like after removing the nose implant? Or do you generally explain in words, draw a pic, etc?

Thanks

for removing the implant, words and pics. imaging may be untruthful since i don't know how big the implant is and how much scar tissue there is.

Hi Dr Lam,
1. Do you agreed that implanting a silicone into nose and leave it there for let say 3 yrs and then remove it is a trick to increase height in the bridge of the asian nose since you get a bit of height in the bridge permanent? What is your opinion regarding this?

2. Is it really unsafe to put in silicone droplet or gortex right after removing the silicone implant? Or is this unnecessary since they nose takes quite some time to reveal the actual new shape?

Thanks

no, because silicone implants can cause permanent problems including permanent redness to the skin, shininess to the skin, pressure changes to the bone and cartilage that are irreversible, shrink wrapping of the tip upward, etc. not worth the risk.
2. Is it really unsafe to put in silicone droplet or gortex right after removing the silicone implant? Or is this unnecessary since they nose takes quite some time to reveal the actual new shape?
i usually wait a few months to see where things are going if the nose height was way too high to begin with. if the height of the nose is not too high with the silicone, i at times do a simultaneous formal revision with gore-tex. however, silicone drops i never do at the same time. the droplets cannot be put into an area that has a wide open dissected field. it will shift. the area must heal first. plus, i use the microdroplets to correct small problems as i see them after implant removal down the road.
