Men's and Women's ideal cheeks difference

Postby desky888 » Sun Apr 05, 2009 7:57 pm

Hi Dr Lam,
I've a face with features that more resemblance or at least look my best when I'm more a metrosexual look.Im a female btw..ha..and after I'd my cheeks filled the 'woman's way..(ie.full anterior cheeks plus high cheek bone and more on lower cheeks between tip of nose to upper lips level) however, whenever I don't smile I felt with this 'big full cheeks'i have this sad look, cos the cheeks like took up 3/4 length of my entire face, which got a effect like pulling my face down.

However, when I do research and looking up on Taiwanese boy's kind of metrosexual looks,I found that my previous face (no fillers yet)more resembled a guy's face than to plump up like a woman.

As far as i know, the guy's cheeks is very ideal as it is very subtle and it really brings up the features on my type of face. What do you think of this dr? Have you ever come across a lady that needs to be fill up to a man's ideal cheeks?

Regards,

what is so very important is that gender guidelines only serve as guidelines. when i look at a face, i look for the idea of balance as important if not much more so than gender issues. for example, some koreans have a very strong outer cheek, i tend to put fat into the central cheek to make that area look smaller. some people have some heaviness of their anterior lower cheek due to weight and so i hit a small amount to the central upper anterior cheek. some people have very gaunt faces that putting fat into the anterior cheek alone will look like a monstrosity. then i look at the buccal area as multiply divided into many small components (discussed in other responses). bottom line: cheek fills truly depend on gender, ethnicity, facial shape, age, and bottom line balance to a face. that is when artistry and judgment come into view. also, there is something called good taste. i cannot underestimate that. you can have 100 surgeons do fat grafting and you will have 100 different results based on amounts, hand movements, and specific location and distributions. if you come in for a consultation in person, i can show you all of these details.
best,
sml
