Hi Dr Lam.

I had my first treatment of silicone for acne scars on the temples about 2 weeks ago with my derm. I have yet to see any improvement. I was just wondering how long on average after treatment do results start showing?. Also my Derm told me that i would only need one or two treatments, But i have heard that some people dont even start seeing visible changes until after 2 or 3 treatments. What is your experience with this and how many treatments on average do you believe it takes to see visible results and filling in of the scars?

hard for me to say. in most cases 2 to 3. i have had 1 or 2 patients that got a good result after one. i have had many that required 4 to 5 treatments.

Just one more thing . Is it too early to be expecting any improvment at 2 weeks after a treatment. How long does it take the collegen to start surrounding the microdroplet of silicone.? It was just that i was really happy at first but then as expected the swelling went down and the scars came back which even though i knew it was going to happen. It was still dissapointing. I just dont want to too high expectations from this treatment.

again, i can only discuss my results. usually you will see something at 2 weeks but as i said in my hands i almost never see an improvement after the first round.
