asian double eyelid shape

Postby asianbeauty » Sun Mar 15, 2009 1:17 am

hi Dr Lam,

Would you say most of the asian that have double eyelids, including naturally or man made are closed in (the corner near the nose)? In other words, is the shape usually flare rather than parallel?

what looks the best on asian?
thanks

There are so many differences between asians that to say one thing or another is more prevalent i think would be incorrect. I prefer the flare especially for females in about 80% of cases. I think it just looks more natural and beautiful. That does not mean to suggest that having a flat crease does not exist naturally in asians or is not a correct or popular option. However, when my eyelid candidates ask me, I encourage them toward a flare for my personal taste for beauty.

Me too like the flare out eyelid crease too. If i have a paraellel (flat) crease, is it possible to correct it to flare by surgery? What risk would involve?
Would you say it's harder than creating a double eyelid than to correct it flare?
thanks

when you have created a flare or a parallel already or already have one naturally (unless it is not a defined crease) then it is hard to change it. i am talking about someone who does not really have a crease then i can make a crease to your liking much more easily.

hi dr lam,
will it be possible to cut in between the eyelid crease and eye lashes line and take out a small bit of skin, so the shape will appear somewhat flare? thanks

It is hard to give you a perfect crease to the precise millimeter but what you are showing me is what I commonly achieve.

can you get the actual crease even lower than what is shown so that it is invisible?

if not, what is the lowest crease you can achieve?

as i mentioned, it is very hard to get a crease exactly of a certain height. the reason is that it depends on how much skin overhands the fixation point. my creases vary between less than 1 mm to 3 mm in height depending somewhat on how the skin overhangs. i predict skin excess and adjust my height accordingly but i can be off by 1 to 2 mm ultimately based on the reason stated above.
best,
sml
i will be posting a video of a woman who was on the news with me last week so you can see a pretty low eyelid crease in her who is 2 years out. you can probably google "western eyes 33 news barry carpenter" and you should find it until i put it on my site.
