Silcone

Dr Lam.
I am planning on having silicone done on friday by my derm. But the thing I was worried about was that i have had resty in the past for broad based saucer scars of my temples and it wasn't effective. I was wondering if that because the resty didn't does that mean that the silicone micro wont work either?. Also i was wondering if silicone builds tissue in all patients or are there some that simply don't respond to treatments? Thanks for your time and this wonderful board :D

in general, silicone IN MY HANDS works much better than restylane. i can't speak for your derm. also, in most cases i have the restylane dissolved before the silicone since i need to be reading things accurately with the silicone. further, i tend to worry that restylane there might interfere with the silicone holding in place when the restylane fades. those are of course my opinions.
best,

Dr Lam.
Do you think it is possible to get a doughnutting effect with silicone if there is too much dense scar tissue in the area. Or do you think that the fact that it is injected in such small amounts would help to stop the dense tissue from pushing the silicone to places where it is not wanted eg. to the borders of the scar? Thanks , Nick

i think anything is possible. an experienced injector will know how to avoid this problem with good technique in most cases.
