hair graft in depressed scar area

Postby usaccounts » Thu Mar 05, 2009 4:14 pm

Hi Dr. lam,

Apart from other scarring, I have a small area perhaps 3-4mm wide which is depressed. This was caused by bursting of a cyst about 2 years back. The scar is at the interface of my cheek, chin and jaw. Due to the scar, hair follicles have been lost. During my subcision, that area got raised a little bit.

I would like to get hair follicle transplant in that area. I'm wondering if it can be done before or after using silicone to raise the depression ? Also, if you do that kind of repair.

EDIT: IT is actually a depression with a V-shaped scar in it..

Thanks a lot !

if you have lost hair follicles, an excision of the affected area would probably be better than some kind of transplant. hope that helps.
best,
