Complications of blepharoplasty

Postby slang83 » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:25 am

I've read of complications that can happen when an asian double eyelid surgery is perform. Of all those, the blindness part is what scares me the most. I pulled out of getting this procedure done about 4 years ago cause of that and I have yet to find a dr i like and you came highly recommended from a trusted friend. I know the chances of going blind are relatively low but I've heard of people going blind 5 or 10 years down the road after having the procedure done. I'm thinking the two are not related at all cause if anything was to happen, it would happen right after the procedure not 5 or 10 years later. Is it true that it can happen?

i believe that it can be true. i think the only real risk of such a thing is if fat is removed and epinephrine used in what is called the "post-septal" tissues. first, i never use epi in the post-septal tissues and i don't remove fat so i think i take that rare event to be so rare that i can't even imagine it. but of course, all my consents still have that there.

thanks for relieving my fears. i wasn't aware the technique you use for asian eyelid surgery didn't involve fat removal. i'll be in touch soon.
