Mole

Postby Stacym57 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 1:07 am

Hi there, I was wondering if you could help me with a concern i have about a recent mole i had removed. The method in which we used to remove the mole was by excising the mole. Now, the problem I'm having is it's been about 2 weeks now and where the mole was removed I'm having a bit of swelling. I'm not too sure what this could be but to me it feels like maybe an ingrown hair or perhaps a pimple? I remember prior to the surgery my mole would grow some unwanted hairs so my question to you is does this affect the healing process? I'm just extremely concerned because this is something I've wanted off my face for such a long time and now I'm getting paranoid with what I'm seeing. Also, the area is still red which sort of makes it look like the mole is still there but clearly it isn't...how long will that take to fade before i start to notice the thin white scar of the stitching? Also, from what i've read and based on what my surgeon said if there were any hairs with the excision they would be removed but in my situation now i'm obviously seeing something formed so if it happens to be an ingrown hair again will it keep swelling up in the certain area of my face continuously? I'm supposed to get the scar lasered in about month i'm just confused as to how it's going to look flat again if i have this dilemma occurring from now. If you could please give me your opinion in what i should do about this i would appreciate it very much.
Thank you :)

stacey,
i'm so sorry but i make it a point not to talk about advice on recovery from any procedure from another surgeon. it is not fair to the other surgeon and it is unethical. you must ask your surgeon that question. sorry again.
best,
sml
