Uneven Fat

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

Uneven Fat

Hi Dr Lam,
another question , w/r/t Fat Graphing. Is there a risk that the fat will take better in some areas vs others leaving an uneven or lumpy appearance? how do you prevent that is it sort of dependent on the individual or is the application really the differance?

the application is really the difference. my fat takes evenly and well. at worse, i need to add a little back in. why? think of it this way, when you put a baseball size piece of fat in there (which i don't do), how much blood supply gets into the center of that baseball? try none. then the fat gets reabsorbed unevenly. obviously even a golf ball size or smaller has the same problem. each of my fat particles are placed in as about half of a rice granule (or smaller) with no needles but a soft cannula. the cannula allows me NOT to disrupt the tissues but to layer the fat into the natural tissue planes so that it becomes part of the tissue. that is why my fat is so smooth. hope that is clear.
