Nose Question

Postby Mimas » Mon Jan 05, 2009 5:17 pm

Hey Dr. Lam,

I have a question for you regarding my nose. Over the years, my nose has become uneven looking where the middle of the nostrils connect to my face. It's a little hard to describe, so I've uploaded a photo so you can see what I'm referring to (please note my right nostril. I tried to take this picture facing directly towards the camera). I'm not sure if this unevenness is caused by the underlying nose structure or if its something in the skin (a cyst). I have not endured any nose trauma. I was, however, an avid thumbsucker as a child. Have you seen this problem before and, if so, is it something that can be fixed?

hi,
thanks for the question. however, i can't see a deformity in the photo. i guess either it does not show up in the photo or you are seeing something that is not there. send again a better photo or different angle because i must be missing something. maybe draw an arrow to point to what you are asking me about.
best,
sml

Re: Nose Question

Hello again Dr. Lam,

I have a hard time getting the issue to show up well in the photo. I've uploaded the same pic, but I circled the area of interest. Even when I'm looking straight ahead (as I tried very hard to do in the photo), it looks like you are viewing my nose from a slight side angle. I'm coming to see on Feb 12 for more lip augmentation...could we do a consultation at that time?

Thanks so much for all your help!

Here is another pic that might better show the problem. Note that I'm looking ever so slightly to the left, but my nose appears to be slanted to the right.

hi,
3 things:
1. noses are going to be asymmetric. please watch my videos on symmetry. just do a search for it. you really should not fix it. it will NOT help you look better and it won't really make you look more attractive. PLEASE watch my videos before you come. you can look at one of these videos under "1. consult" found on every page of the site on the video "balance vs. symmetry". it really will help you see what you need to see.
2. the "deformity" you are showing me is a normal part of anatomy. it is officially known as the medial crural foot plate. everyone has one.
3. your lips look good. i don't know if you want to add more (or if i want more).
sorry to deny you all these things. we can talk when you come in but you know my philosophy. i may say no to everything. let me see though.
best,
sml

Hi Dr. Lam,

Would it be possible for me to send you some more pictures (perhaps not smiling) so you can get a better look at my lips? If you decide not to perform any additional lip augmentation, I will respect your decision- you are very skilled and have an amazing artistic eye. However, I live in the southeast and would really appreciate saving the traveling expenses, should you decide to not to go forth.

Just let me know if it's ok for me to send you more pics.
Thanks!
Mimas
