recovering from FG

This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions on various surgical techniques for facial rejuvenation, including fat transfer/fat grafting, browlift, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), facelift, etc. Also, this category includes questions on hand rejuvenation via fat grafting. (Of note, Dr. Lam does not perform body rejuvenation except for hand fat grafting)

recovering from FG

Postby lulu » Tue Dec 11, 2007 1:49 pm

Hi, I just had Fat Grafting to my lower eye area and upper cheeks with a very respected and conservative PS in my area just 5 days ago.

Since you do hundreds of FG procedures each month, I'm sure you've seen all sort of different recoveries.

I have an issue with my recovery that I wanted to ask you about. It's been 5 days since the procedure. One of my eyes looks remarkable. I had minimal bruising and I've noticed that the swelling goes down with each day.

My other eye worries me. I had no bruising on this eye but what I notice is this: The initial horrible swelling that is seen immediately following the procedure went down a bit after the first 24 hrs. The problem is, it hasn't improved or gone down any more after that. It looks the same as it has looked since the 2nd day and doesn't improve nor worse. It's like "stuck"

I went to see my PS yesterday. He said it's normal for one side to respond better than the other. But since you perform so many FG each week, and have seen so many different recoveries, is it normal for to have one eye area that has not improved or changed after the 2nd day??

Thanks for your time
(My doctor inserted the same amount of CC on each side)

Although I have not seen or taken care of you, yes, in general that is normal. Read my fat grafting postop results: I mention that the two sides may be swollen differently even for the first several weeks to months. However, you need to consult with your surgeon and not me when it comes to your aftercare. It is unfair of me to comment.
