Skin rejuvenation

Postby drvince » Sun Nov 16, 2008 2:36 pm

Hey Dr Lam - My girlfriend wanted me to ask this :) She's in her late twenties, half russian and half northern European (scandanavian). She loves the sun (not that we get much of that here in great britain!) She tans well, probably type 3 skin, but prone to freckles on the face very easily.

She is quite concerned that the face on her skin seems to be poorer in quality compared to her body, starting with the texture. She uses a basic combo of face wash, toner, moisturizer - and to be honest she's not that into make up, or products. Which I actually like (saves me $!)

We've done some botox for glabella/forehead/crows feet and tear trough and got some great results. But it's obviously not done much for the 'glow' and to improve the 'texture'.

I was recently at a foundation laser training with a plastic surgeon, and heard that certain lasers are good for this. I've yet to go through your vids so I'm sure they may have been mentioned there. I was wondering what you do for your clients who present simiarly. I know it'll vary from person to person, but I'd love your thoughts on what you think the role of diet, TCA peels, lasers, and other products that you may perhaps recommend?

(also just noticed the rolfing and anti-aging elements at the clinic - very very cool. have you tried rolfing? I keep hearing it's great for improving posture)

rolfing has saved my back and my arms. it is nothing short of a miracle. my mother could not move until she had rolfing. you must have a good rolfer though. as far as your GF is concerned, if she is having early lines, start Botox until they go away then a hiatus is fine given her age. If she is fair skinned with early sun damage she may need this starting earlier. I believe in order of importance for youth besides good genes in descending priority:

control your environment (sun avoidance, no smoking, diet), followed by botox, followed by skin care products. that's it. for someone who has already damage, then botox still takes precedence since it blocks the motion of the skin which is the source of the problem but then you should add lasers at that point to reverse damage. watch my video logs on botox tutorials 1, 2, 3 for a really good understanding of my philosophy.
best,
sml
