Laser Resurfacing and Fat Grafting

Postby meandme » Mon Nov 03, 2008 3:24 am

Hi Dr. Lam

I would like to ask your advice, i'm not based in the United States otherwise i would be using you as my PS, but i'm hoping you can give me some general advice anyway. My dermatologist has referred me to a plastic surgeon to have a light erbium laser done under my eyes to unplug lots of little oil glands where cysts have appeared, since he says they are too numerous to cauterise in his office, he feels a laser will have more control and will be safer. So I need to have that done but i'm also scheduled to have fat grafting under my eyes with a different plastic surgeon. Which procedure should i have done first if it makes any difference? I would think the laser. And if i have the laser done how long should i wait before fat grafting. Apparently its only going to be a light erbium resurfacing, since i don't have any issues with wrinkles.

Thanks for your advice

I don't think honestly it really matters but since you are working with those docs, you need to ask them that question not me. I would hate to answer such a question on behalf of another surgeon. Btw, I have many patients fly in from out of country for my fat transfer, last week was Spain and in 2 weeks from Australia so it is doable if you wanted in the future. Under the eyes is the most technically demanding area to work with. Just make sure that the surgeon has had tremendous experience with that part of the face. As you know, in general I am opposed to isolated transfers of the face. The reason my results look as good as they do is applying artistry not just to fill a hole but to create a seamlessly balanced face that looks youthful and refreshed. Okay, enough of the sales pitch. I hope that was not offensive, I just have seen too many "fat transfers" out there. :)
best wishes,
sml
