I was recently listening to a public speaker expounding upon what he deems as our moral obligation to be happy. He claims it's an obligation because we each have such impact on others and ultimately more. Of course we can be righteously sad or anything else, and those responses have their place. His point is that our general demeanor is something we can enhance, and that we owe it to the greater good to do so. I'd never considered it in quite this way, as an obligation to others.
My husband has been reading a book by another public speaker, Zig Ziglar, and sharing tidbits with our daughter and me. Now we're all starting each day with a resounding, "I feel GREAT!" Days we don't quite feel GREAT, but it's sort of funny to say it in the face of that. Then the irony makes us laugh and soon we find we DO feel better, even pretty great, afterall.
Just some thoughts for anyone.
